Researching Overseas Family History

 

The National Archive has some information on how to search for both slave owners and slaves.

UCL also has a searchable database of slavery records containing firms, individuals and addresses.

The Family and Colonisation Research Network has a good guide for emigration from the UK to colonies such as the USA, Canada, Australia, South Africa and more.

The Commonwealth War Graves Commission contains the list of 1.7 million people who died during the two World Wars from across the British Commonwealth.
