Researching Middle Eastern Family History

 

Middle Eastern genealogy is one of the most difficult undertakings in genealogical research. Due to wars and regional instability many records have been lost and it is unlikely that many have been digitised.

Cyndi’s List for the Middle East can cover a lot of what is available and searchable.

Anne Hart wrote an article detailing how best to trace genealogy within the Middle East.

Anne Hart has also written a book regarding Middle Eastern Genealogy, it is available from online retailers.

Findmypast have approximately 10,000 BMD records from Bahrain.

Iraq

Kindred Trails have  links to the Ministry of Health and War Cemetery records.

Qatar

Kindred Trails have links to landowners indexes and city directories.
